🌷Use this quick checklist when planting your autumn bulbs to ensure strong winter root development and beautiful spring flowers
1. Choose Your Bulbs
☐ Select healthy, firm bulbs with no soft spots
☐ Choose varieties suited to your climate zone
☐ Store bulbs in a cool, dry place until planting
2. Select Your Container
☐ Choose the appropriate size Root Pouch grow bag
☐ Ensure the bag is placed in a position that receives good sunlight
☐ Confirm the bag has good airflow and drainage
3. Prepare the Soil
☐ Fill the grow bag with high-quality potting mix
☐ Add compost or organic matter if available
☐ Ensure the soil drains freely (bulbs dislike soggy soil)
4. Install Your Watering System
☐ Place your Waterpot Olla in the centre or slightly offset in the grow bag
☐ Fill the olla with water before planting
☐ Check that the lid is secure to prevent evaporation
5. Plant the Bulbs
☐ Plant bulbs 2–3 times their height deep
☐ Position bulbs with the pointed end facing up
☐ Space bulbs evenly for a fuller spring display
☐ Cover gently with soil and lightly firm the surface
6. Water and Mulch
☐ Water the container well after planting
☐ Top up the olla reservoir
☐ Add a light layer of mulch if desired
7. Winter Maintenance
☐ Check the Waterpot olla water level occasionally
☐ Allow rainfall to assist with watering
☐ Avoid overwatering during very wet periods
☐ Keep containers in a sunny position
8. Spring Care
☐ Watch for shoots emerging in late winter or early spring
☐ Continue topping up the olla as plants grow
☐ Enjoy the flowering display
☐ Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering
